Jesslyn Chong is battling stage 3 ovarian cancer while facing the immense challenge of carrying a 15kg ovarian tumor. Since the start of 2024, Jesslyn has faced health issues that led her to stop working due to fluid in her lungs. Despite her deteriorating health, she searched for work until April, when her condition took a turn for the worse, leaving her reliant on a wheelchair.
On April 23, an emergency CT scan revealed the presence of a massive ovarian tumor, weighing 15 kg—equivalent to two baby heads. It was a sudden and terrifying diagnosis that required immediate surgery. Jesslyn faced the real fear that she might not wake up, possibly leaving her son alone.
After the tumor was removed, Jesslyn believed her battle was over. However, her fight continues as she now faces an intense chemotherapy regimen. Each session costs RM130, and after this first round of chemotherapy, a CT scan will determine the next steps, including whether more chemotherapy or radiation is required.
Jesslyn is determined to fight and survive for her son, who is also struggling to meet their basic needs. They rely solely on each other, and she remains steadfast in her effort not to leave him alone. Their struggles are compounded by the uncertainty of her health condition—even after treatment, it remains unknown if the tumor is completely gone.
While many of us have a network of support and resources, Jesslyn and her son face their challenges with little to no help. They need support to navigate this difficult time. Your help can make a difference.
We need to raise RM17,600 to cover her medical expenses and help provide some hope for her and her son. Every contribution helps to ease their burden.
