It rained quite heavily in the morning but that didn’t stop us, animal lovers and beyond, from showing up for the memorandum submission, demanding justice for Kopi, the stray dog tragically shot by the local council in Besut, Terengganu

 

Known for his gentle nature, Kopi was a community dog who found safety and love among the locals until his life was senselessly taken

 

New Life Animal Shelter, alongside a coalition of animal NGOs, stood united in the rally, gathering to demand that the Municipal District Board (MDB) reveal the names of officers involved in the killing. We were joined by Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the former ninth Prime Minister of Malaysia who took the time to understand our voices and support the call for stricter laws to protect the voiceless strays

 

This rally ended in peace but our fight for justice continues. We hope this marks a turning point towards greater accountability and a future where no stray suffers in silence
